Here at Alchem (Merseyside) Ltd, we are set up to handle both segregated and unsegregated waste. Contractors who are able to segregate their own waste prior to delivery to our depot will have their waste processed by us at a keen discount to our already competitive standard rate. Please contact our office to discuss the rates available.
More than 90% of all the unsegregated waste we process is recycled, and our aim is for 100% recycling if possible. Unsegregated waste, from the smallest skip to the largest lorry load, is processed through our Trommel screening station, a four step process:
- The waste is passed through a 25mm gauge rotating drum that separates small waste known as fines.
- The waste then passes under a magnetic belt which removes metals for recycling.
- The remaining light and hardcore waste then goes onto the picking belt, where our team hand-pick wood, chipboard, cardboard, plastics, and any remaining metal that has escaped the magnet, and sends it down separate chutes for recycling.
- The remaining hardcore waste then drops into a skip at the end of the picking belt ready for collection/delivery
